Easier on the clothes and the hands I say.
But will smell like toilet water when you’re done.
Not easier on the muscles, I wouldn’t think. Do you know how much one needs to keep agitating to get close to good cleaning? Don’t count on it being a quick job.
As for wear and tear, that certainly isn’t a problem for camping.
