I fear for the former, but relish the justified karma of the latter.
Yes, I know, cutting off my nose despite my face, self flagellation and all that. The recovery, if possible, will be long in coming; far beyond the years of the next presidency.
Get another left winger in the WH and we will have a full blown hot WWIII.
This time it wont just be overseas where civilian populations are getting killed, it will be right here.
I think we need a Kirby.
It would depend on who the Dem is.
If it is another obama-type [someone with special political consideration], the problems could continue to be covered over for as long as possible.
Obama has had the advantage of being the first black president. If the next Dem has similar special consideration, he/she could be ‘hands off’.

Alternately, even if the GOP nominated a black hispanic muslim lesbian female, she would be attacked from the moment she got the nomination.
I am going for the republican Hoover.
A democrat Hoover will make the depression deeper and longer and may even start WWIII like Roosevelt used WWII to get out of the depression.
Just look at Argentina. The socialists keep getting elected and they have had a depression for about 25 years now with no end in sight.
Bagless.
The Wednesday after a Republican is elected President the current QE will be completely removed and the stock market will tank (which should have happened long ago). Hoover will be blamed. The GOP can’t win a public opinion poll with the MSM, but we would still be better off with a Hoover.
Given the revolution in oil & gas production from fracking—(we’re now THE largest nat. gas producer in the world, and next year will become THE largest oil producer...)and with that kind of money being made, even the green-nazis can’t stop it; I’m not at all convinced we’re in for an economic collapse.
But for fracking we would be....but, we’re not there.
Democrat Hoover (Hillary).
I don’t know that this country could survive another Democrat in the White House, but then I don’t know that this country has survived this one. We may already be the walking dead, in which case who we have in the White House in the future won’t matter much. The GOPe wouldn’t make any difference. There probably won’t be an after this time around.
I hear that argument every election.
Personally, I LOVE Hoover Dam. It shows what we can do if we look at nature as something to be TAMED, rather than feared.
Possibly shortest answer in history:
“Neither”
