Moms Demand Action: Emotion Wins Debates

A hat tip to joehuffman.org for pointing out the absurd in this article from ABCnews.   It quotes Shannon Watts as saying the following:

“I think the NRA should be very afraid of Americans, who’ve had enough of the gun violence in this country and in particular moms,” Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action and a board member for Everytown for Gun Safety, said. “Moms are afraid our children will be taken away and in the end, I think that’s the emotion that will win the debate.”
So Ms. Watts believes that debates are about  emotion, and apparently, questions of law should be decided by the fears of mothers rather than by facts, thought, rational consideration of reality and reasonably expected consequences.   Not that we shouldn't be afraid of Ms. Watts and the power of the anti-second amendment media and politicians behind her.

Relying on the power of emotion over fact and logic is a standard ploy for sophists whose facts and logic do not make the grade.   It is standard fare for those who believe that people are too stupid to control their own lives, so they have to be lied to in order to bring their "betters" into power to take care of them.    It is the mainstay of the nanny state.

The danger is that emotions can win debates, when those emotions are backed up by threats of violence.   An inflamed mob or majority can kill you.  If you inflame the ignorant enough, you can get them to go along with disarming and killing those whom they are told are the danger.   You can use emotion to concentrate the power in the hands of the government to kill off the educated, as in Cambodia, or the Jews, as in the Holocaust.

My colleague, John Jay Ray, has studied the motivations of political leftists, and they are founded in strong negative emotions.

It is worthwhile to note that Shannon Watts finds her strongest card in emotion, and not fact.

That is what you do when the facts, the culture, and the Constitution are all against you.

“...Moms are afraid our children will be taken away and in the end, I think that’s the emotion that will win the debate.”...

Maybe if most of these “moms” would STAY HOME and raise their children properly, they wouldn’t have to worry about their kids getting killed - you know, by, like, joining gangs, dealing drugs, breaking into other peoples’ homes and stealing other peoples’ property.

Nah... Couldn’t be that.

They can be as emotional as they want. It does not matter to me in the least.

I teach women to safely handle and use firearms ALL the time. And once they get that understanding, there’s no going back.

And - for all you “moms” - I also teach kids (gasp).

Me and hundreds of other NRA instructors all over the country.

Sadly, in a lot of cases she's right. The entire country stopped learing how to think and process information logically decades ago. In states with less restrictions on guns, crime is lower? It doesn't matter. Guns are "scary" to "moms" and "kids" so they have to go. Same applies to other issues. Are generous entitlements running us into bankruptcy? It doesn't matter. Its "heartless" to "take food out of the mouths of the elderly and kids." Emotion works and it will be the doom of us all.

Emotion is their stock in trade. To remove it from the debate marginalizes them and makes their ill-expressed point of view immaterial. And that's when they really get p!$$ed off.

Guns are scary to kids? Then why does my 17 y.o. daughter want a Mossberg 590A1 SPX?

In 1865 a Democrat shot and killed Abraham Lincoln, President of the United States.

In 1963 a radical left wing communist, Lee Harvey Oswald, shot and killed John F. Kennedy, President of the United States.

In 1975 a two wing radical Democrats fired shots at Gerald Ford, President of the United States in separate acts of mental illness.

In 1981 a registered Democrat shot and wounded Ronald Reagan.

In 1984 James Huberty a disgruntled Democrat shot and killed 22 people in a McDonalds restaurant.

In 1986 Patrick Sherril a disgruntled Democrat shot and killed 15 people in an Oklahoma post office.

In 1990 James Pough a disgruntled Democrat shot and killed 10 people at a GMAC office.

In 1991 George Hennard a disgruntled Democrat shot and killed 23 people in a Lubys cafeteria.

In 1995 James Daniel Simpson a disgruntled Democrat shot and killed 5 coworkers in a Texas laboratory.

In 1999 Larry Asbrook a disgruntled Democrat shot and killed 8 people at a church service.

In 2001 a left wing radical Democrat fired shots at the White House in a failed attempt to kill George W. Bush, President of the US.

Martin plant.

In 2007 a registered Democrat named Seung - Hui Cho shot and killed 32 people in Virginia Tech .

March 2010: John Patrick Bedell shot two Pentagon security. A right-wing extremist, media asked? (A registered Democrat and 9/11 Truther.)

In 2011 a mentally ill, registered Democrat named Jared Lee Loughner shot Rep. Gabrielle Giffords. The pot smoking Loughner killed 6 and wounded 18 in another liberal shooting tragedy.

In 2011 another mentally ill and registered Democrat named James Holmes went into a Colorado movie theater and shot and killed 12 people.

In 2012 Andrew Engeldinger a disgruntled Democrat shot and killed 7 people in Minneapolis.

On September 16 2013, Aaron Alexis another pyscho Democrat killer slaughtered 12 innocents at the US Navy Yard. Alexis before his slaughter of innocents Navy Yard gunman Aaron Alexis had complained his brain had been targeted by low-frequency waves weeks before the slaughter.

12/14/2013 Karl Pierson entered Arapahoe High School in Centennial, Co. armed with a shotgun with intent to kill one of his teachers. He shot Claire Davis, a senior, @Arapahoe High in the head. Yes, Pierson is/was another mentally ill liberal punk.

We could go on, but you get the point, even if the media and the anti gun pyschos in Congress do not.

Clearly, there is a problem with Democrats, AKA, the mentally ill having guns or being around them.

No NRA members, No Tea Party members, or No Republican conservatives are/were involved.

Political correctness and leftist policies are to blame in these mass shootings:

If Seung-Hui Cho had been institutionalized for mental illness, 32 people would still be alive at Virginia Tech.

If Jared Loughner had been institutionalized, 6 would be alive in Tucson.

If James Holmes had been institutionalized, 12 lives spared in Aurora, CO.

If Adam Lanza had been institutionalized, 26 would still live in Newtown, CT.

If Nidal Hasan had been properly reported, investigated, and discharged from the Army, and institutionalized, 13 would not have died at Ft. Hood.

If we really want to improve safety, keep criminals in jail, terrorists out of the U.S., and people who are mentally ill/deranged in institutions.

Again, It should be illegal for any Democrats to own guns or be around them.
