Actually, that would make a cool sci if story... 3000 A.D, is a highly advanced culture with technology that can do almost everything... except space travel due to continued entropy in that field. The protagonist sets out to prove the 1969 landing is not just a myth.

This might seem harsh, it is just an observation. The US has gone from a "can do" nation of innovators to a "can't do" nation of parasites.

Reminds me of when Newt Gingrich was practically laughed out of the room during the 2012 GOP primary season when he suggested that the US should begin an effort to establish a permanent base on the moon by 2020.

Thanks to 100 years of 'progressivism', we've become a nation that reaches for free $**t from the government instead of reaching for the stars. Sad days indeed.

In 1,000 years our flight to the moon may be only a myth, obscured behind the mists of time like some Norse saga.

Wouldn't surprise me at all. After all, we already have our share of tinfoil-hat nutters who are convinced that the moon landing was faked.

Yes, yes, and yes

Everywhere you look, as Reagan said, "GOVERNMENT is the problem."

Take just one sector, energy. Energy is the lifeblood of a nation. Give a nation cheap, abundant energy and the economy will grow and life will be good. Take the energy away and we go back 100 years.

TransCanada Pipelines wants to pipe 650,000 B/D of uninterruptible oil into the US economy from your best ally, trading partner and neighbor. The project has been stalled by GOVERNMENT for going on six years. What is going on?

Further, the US is producing so much natural gas that it is being burned off in the fields. There are no pipelines to send it to market and no terminals to turn it into LNG for export. The permits to build the terminals are being delayed by GOVERNMENT.

I could go on and on about how GOVERNMENT is holding the energy sector back and driving up the price, but I don't want to hijack the thread. Suffice to say that the average Freeper, given the power, could probably reduce the cost of energy and turn the US into an energy exporter within two years. GOVERNMENT has other ideas.
