I sense you’re right. He views the world through a prism that tells him every problem in the world is caused by the quest for rightness. This is why he’s wrong every time. He can’t help but find the worst explanation for what happened. So searching for meaning, he had to x out anything that looked like truth and come up with the well defined leftist position.
