His flub in solving the puzzle that would have given him a new auto was a groaner. The kicker was that despite his two boners, he bested by quite a lot the other two contestants.

Well, there was the dope when given an uncompleted six letter word with two ggs in the middle decided it was the n word.
On another note, at a work-related conference some years ago, I met a woman who had appeared on The Price Is Right and actually won a car. She said she was so nervous she could hardly think or talk. She remembered people from the audience shouting prices at her, so she picked one, and that was the correct one.
Not defending the stupidity, but I don’t think English is his first/native language. He looked like a “skinny”.
