This week NATO released a series of satellite images showing a Russian military buildup near its border with Ukraine. The forward bases are Spartan and are mainly used to disperse or deploy assets for contingencies. Most likely this is a show of Force to counter NATOs shifting of Forces as a display of good faith to support the current government of Ukraine
NATO leadership estimate at least 40,000 Russian troops have been deployed near the borders which could likely be within Ukraine in about an hour if ordered. The images show aircraft, armored vehicles, artillery, and forces deployed in positions that are not equipped for long term occupation. Usually such deployments are performed for training purposes but in the current situation they could be a show of force for the benefit of the pro-Russian population, a move to deter NATO, or to provide Air cover if the population should decide to have a civil war.

Posturing, for now....In the meantime, Vlad’s security services are busy as bees working the internals of the “new” Ukraine.
I first thought this was a report about Bundy’s Ranch.
:(
From the headline I thought this was about Nevada...
That situation is going to get ugly. Looks like the statists are trying to keep the press out.
Yep. No new news this AM...
With no military background, I’m just guessing that there’d be a LOT of support troops, supplies, facilities/bases, hardware etc for 40,000 troops. And pics of those? (I remember what BSA Summer Camp was like back in the 50s; the place was huge.)
“The images show aircraft, armored vehicles, artillery, and forces deployed in positions that are not equipped for long term occupation.”
Ooops, that sentence didn’t register w/ me. Guess they’re “roughing it”.
Got it; thx.
