But the article is otherwise correct.
Actually, no. Senator McCarthy never had anything to do with Hollywood. His entire investigation was focused on and limited to people in government service who were communists. And later records once the Soviet Union imploded showed both that he was right on there being a lot of communists in the government, and that they were actively and knowingly working against the interests of the United States.
In fact, his investigations were the polar opposite of Obama's 'witch hunt.' Obama wants to destroy people who are *not* in government. To Obama, government is sacred, second only to himself in importance.

McCarthyism in the HUAC got Hollywood dupes fired, not McCarthy himself, that’s correct. Similarly, Barry can’t be directly linked to the removal of Mozilla’s CEO, but Mr. Justice sure doesn’t seem to see anything wrong with it.
“I abhor their (communist) philosophy, but I detest more than that their tactics, which are those of the fifth column, and are dishonest, but at the same time I never as a citizen want to see our country become urged, by either fear or resentment of this group, that we ever compromise with any of our democratic principles through that fear or resentment. I still think that democracy can do it.” Ronald Reagan testimony before HUAC
