Wd-40 dries out and leaves no protection. It’s primary purpose is water displacement.

WD-40 actually does a good job of REMOVING lubricants. I even use it to get petroleum stains out of clothes.

If you want to destroy an air-tool, spray WD-40 in it. I learned that after loaning a few out.
