Not to be a wet blanket or something, but isn’t something like this screaming at all those 3 letter agencies “Prepper Here”!?
Probably. But it’s pretty unlikely that they are unaware of who preps. Yes, the farsighted and dedicated few who’ve bought everything with cash and lived off the grid for the past 20 years, but even dropping off the radar could attract attention if not done perfectly.
I prep because I know there’s an earthquake coming, living on a fault line; no realistic expectation of of surviving more than a few days to a week or so of general societal collapse, but that doesn’t mean be unprepared for no water, sewage or power for weeks to months.
The point of diminishing returns differs depending on the scenario one is prepping for. Not cost effective for me to prep for TEOTWAWKI, totally foolish to NOT prep for a 9.2 on the San Andreas. However I am quite willing to learn from those who’ve gone off grid, or have really thought through and acted upon a scenario involving complete and long term societal collapse.
I’d gladly show anyone my bug out bag and long term stash, indeed I’ve given speeches on what one should have - the old man survived the ‘ ‘06, but barely and with the family losing nearly everything (which wasn’t much)...
