Yesterday the Supreme Court heard the case of Sebelius v Hobby Lobby. This is a potentially momentous case. Hobby Lobby is owned by a Christian family. Their religious beliefs are such that they oppose abortion in any form. They provide healthcare to their employees, however they don’t provide coverage for any procedure or pill that could harm an unborn child. Under Obamacare, the Federal government has mandated contraception and abortion coverage. Hobby Lobby objects on religious grounds. The left is crying war on women, Sandra Fluke is loudly proclaiming that corporations aren’t people and can have no religion. To take the Fluke position is to deny that corporations are groups of people.

Well, Scotus crossed the Rubicon into condoning arbitrary government long ago.

The mandate (what a horrible term to be used in a republic!) isn't law. It is a regulation.

Both the 1st Amendment and the law which merely recognizes religious freedom, Congress’ 1993 Religious Freedom Restoration Act, positively trumps ANYTHING written by unaccountable bureaucrats.

Semiannual elections cannot cure what ails our once republic.

Most churches in the United States now are corporations.

Hobby Lobby is leaning heavily on the Citizens United case, which upheld a corporation’s right to engage in political speech ... If corporations, as groups of individuals, may engage in political free speech then they also may engage in the free exercise of their religious faith. In the case of Hobby Lobby, that faith is Christian.

Justice Samuel Alito reacts to 0bama's lie about the Citizens United decision and unprecedented attack on the Supreme Court in the SOTU.

I am very encouraged by this "Citizens United" pattern. Even it's name is awesome! It is no surprise that the Left reacted so negatively to the Citizens United decision. It is a huge crack in their foundation to suppress free speech. This also was the decision that caused 0bama to launch his assault on conservatives by using the IRS as his gestapo arm.

Lastly, I'm very encouraged about this upcoming SCOTUS decision. Remember, the last time this unConstitutional piece of legislative garbage came before this body, four of the nine Justices voted to throw the ENTIRE thing out. Now ... it's time for the Pirate Roberts to see the light ......

Religious freedom hangs in the balance here, so does a future of anti-Christian persecution. Believers must pray for God’s mercy.

Amen! Prayers up! Dear Lord, have mercy on us!

Leo, you’re the author, it’s your website and you’re the poster. There’s no need to excerpt - unless you’re just trolling for hits.

I would like to think the 1st amendment applies here and that the Religious Freedom Restoration Act would also apply. I would further like to believe Kennedy and Roberts would rule according to the Constitution. However, after the Obamacare ruling a couple years ago I have no confidence in the Court to rule correctly. If they rule correctly I will be pleasantly surprised.

Churches are usually non-profit corporations, which separates them from for profits. In the Fluke article she specifically references Hobby Lobby’s profit motives. The distinction is important because the Hobby Lobby case only applies to for profit corporations. I believe the Little Sisters of the Poor case would apply to non-profit corporations.

Conservatives ought to pray that Citizens United becomes entrenched Constitutional precedent. The Hobby Lobby case is important on so many levels because a government victory could be the death of not just religious freedom but freedom of speech as well. Such a defeat for our side would chip away at Citizens United and the protections that case affords groups of individuals.

LeoMcNeil, please research the government's intentions for the 501(c)(3)s. The attack on the (c)(4)s is going on right now. The attack on the (c)(3)s is next.

Pastors who are watching are focused on the sodomites' intentions to destroy the (c)(3)s, especially the churches, and FIRST the Bible-believing churches. Many denominations have already landed in the sodomites' airfield and are off radar. They are targeting the fundamentalists.

The general statement made that "corporations do not have religious rights" may not contain the words "for profit," but principally it doesn't matter. Churches become employers, too. Large churches, with schools, large ministries, etc., do often provide insurances.

It should not be thought that the moral miscreants in all this will stop at the "for profits."

The one thing you can say with 501(c)(3) is that since LBJ put that in legislation back in the 50’s the Federal government hasn’t taken a single church or anyone for that matter to court over a violation. They’re clearly afraid that the section wouldn’t hold up in Court which is why they only threaten to enforce it without actually enforcing it.
