Dallas had a significant open carry event on 9 February. Dozens of open carriers participated. Myfoxdfw.com estimated 60.
The demonstration by about 60 members of Open Carry Texas was meant to bring awareness to their cause, which is for the Texas Legislature to allow any citizen to carry a pistol in the open just as the law allows carrying of long guns.Weird that the reporter did not mention that both likely candidates for governor, Greg Abbot (R) and Wendy Davis (D), have come out in support of open carry.
More than 70 people with the group Open Carry Texas participated in an open carry walk Sunday afternoon in the Uptown neighborhood in Dallas. They also mentioned that both candidates that want to occupy the governor's mansion have come out in support of the policy:
Sundays demonstration comes just days after Democratic gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis told the Associated Press she supports open carry. While most people may see though the political pandering that Wendy Davis is doing, it appears that the tactics of the open carry groups are working. The candidate that opposes Davis for her Texas Senate seat, Konnie Burton, is reported as a strong open carry supporter. From opencarry.org:
Her position aligns her with Republican gubernatorial candidate Gregg Abbott but puts her at odds with many in the Democratic Party.
The primary reason Wendy Davis suddenly discovered she " supports " open carry is that she is worried about losing her Texas State Senate seat to her challenger KONNI BURTON who has been on board for OC all along. Davis knows she has no chance of beating Gregg Abbott. It is clear that Wendy Davis' gubernatorial campaign is in serious trouble. Is it possible that a second amendment supporter could win her Senate seat, SD 10, as well?

I do not see a problem with this. This is as close to Constitutional carry as we can get.
Abortion Barbie did just because she knows she's in Texas, but her Satanic supports are livid because of it. Don't see her losing many votes because of her betrayal since Marxists are lock-step drones, but it's not going to help her, thank God.
Dozens? Dozens?
In Dallas?
I wonder how many rifle owners there are in Dallas .
I am in NM and have a concealed carry permit, but travel in Texas all the time.
I was scared to death by a cop in Texas who saw my (legally carried) weapon when getting out the car. (My shirt rose up.) He informed me “concealed carry” meant “concealed” and imprinting or even accidental shows like I did violate the law.
I’d like open carry (like in NM) to make my concealed carry not so dangerous.
If he meant that, then he should not be in law enforcement. My beef with the whole "concealed" issue is that it is an infringement on a right. Time has proven that rights can be removed incrementaly and the 2dA is being chipped away.
Its fun watching state legislators stammer and stutter is someone walks past them with a openly carried gun in the Michigan state capitol building.
I wouldn't care if I weighed 260 and had to duck through doorways.

Sorry, I have been too busy with work lately to keep up with this...
I would have certainly participated in this event had I been aware of it!
It takes a real man to successfully concealed carry a 50 Cal Barret.
That “printing” or “incidental exposure” resulting in a “brandishing” charge, is the straw that passed “open carry” in Oklahoma. It’s apparently poor form for LEO to threaten a state legislator with arrest for “printing”. He just might introduce legislation to “decriminalize” carry.
“Does anyone have a “ping list” going on Gun Watch?”
I try to post things as quickly as I can to the Banglist.
The next event that I know of is in Andrews, Texas:
