The original US Constitution protected slave-owners in several ways, among them: limiting slave-representation to 3/5 that of other citizens.
Of course, slaves themselves couldn't vote at all, but still we see today that idea of the Slave Power entitled to more votes than everyone else -- we see it in organized voter fraud, and their efforts to amnesty & voter-register millions of illegal aliens.

So, the original Slave Power was a legally privileged & protected class.
Our new Slave Power wants to be just as privileged.
