Are Boehner and Ryan trying to be too cute by half on amnesty?

The Republican immigration plan we are to believe has always been in place for about a year contains this sentence, “There will be no special path to citizenship for individuals who broke our nation’s immigration laws – that would be unfair to those immigrants who have played by the rules and harmful to promoting the rule of law.”

Their one page position paper on “immigration reform” which was put together a long time ago, so we have been told, was never going to grant amnesty, so we have been told. The Republican leaders are now trying to sell us the story that the poison pill of...

An open letter to the GOP Members of the House

As a Representative in Congress, you took this Oath:

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God."

"Support and defend the Constitution" it says. Did you see that? That document requires, per Art.4, S.4, that

"The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence."

An invasion is what we are suffering. That invasion has accelerated with each "comprehensive immigration reform" previously enacted. Instead of another disastrous reform that yet again increases the incentives for millions more to try their luck crossing the southern border, a Representative who took his Oath and the Constitution seriously would be pressing for what the American people have repeatedly said they want - not what Senator Schumer, Mexico, some border state farmers and homebuilders or the Chamber of Commerce rent-seekers want. That is:
  1. secure the border in a transparently verifiable way;
  2. end the anchor-baby interpretation of the 14th Amendment;
  3. enforce eVerify without exception and with severe penalties;
  4. no government benefits beyond critical emergency care (and that ought to be billed back to the Mexican government); and
  5. NO "Path to Citizenship" - ever - for anyone who has entered the US illegally.
Any bill that does not accomplish these five things is unacceptable. It is de facto amnesty. And it will inevitably encourage millions more illegal entries.

If the GOP is complicit in this amnesty fiasco, either by taking up the Senate bill or through some piecemeal slight of hand with a series of House bills such as we hear are being cooked up this week, the GOP will cease to exist. It will not survive through the 2016 elections. The people will shun the over-tanned, glad-handing, backslapping quislings and look elsewhere for leaders who actually have the spine for the fight. Make no mistake - to me and to many, many others, amnesty is the GOP's Rubicon. Cross it at your electoral peril.

A Number One Rule for any person granted amnesty who came here illegally by breaking the law...that person may never...NEVER ever vote in a National Election...never. If all States would adopt such a law as part of their agreement to allow felons to become citizens of this country, it might go a long way in making amnesty for illegal aliens more palatable.

They know all they have to do is get something passed and to the Senate. Then most of the Senate gang of 8 bill will be substituted in committee.

Thereafter, they can claim they didn’t vote for it, yada yada yada. They just need to do it when they hope no one is looking.

Within 5 minutes, lawyers would be in court and a judge would nullify that. If they are granted amnesty, they will eventually be given voting rights.

We will continue to have this battle back and forth, which has been going on for at least the last 14 years (2001 amnesty push), as long as they try to parse definitions and rights.

The problem begins when a person crosses the border and, thus, becomes classified as an 'illegal'. Until they can find a way to justify that or change the definition, they will continue to have the back-and-forth.

The cowardly, liberal-leaning Republican establishment usually reserves its fear for the mainstream media and players of race cards. This time, they seem to have been scared by the Party base! Of course, during the past year, donations to the Party have gone WAAAYYY south while conservative PACS have raked in a comparative fortune!! The link below shows that dollars still do most of the talking in DC.

This isn’t over. The GOPe are just trying to turn down the temp and waste some time. When they have their ducks in a row they will try to cram it down quickly

I expect they will get the support of the Catholic Church and Baptists on whatever deal they make with the Dems. These are despicable careerists running the GOP and it will get ugly.

We all know by now how this works. The Senate passed their bill that the House rejected. If the House passes this bill, the Senate will reject it and they will take it to conference and the dems will win yet another battle! STUPID republicans!
