Sure he could. He's a free man. There's no conspiracy forcing him to get involved with such publicity-seeking ventures.

For better or worse he's entered the realm of celebrity, he might as well cash in.

There's a difference between celebrity and notoriety. He's a man who was widely publicized for killing a 17 year old, and then went through a highly politicized trial to determine whether he was justified in doing so. Most of us, if forced to take a human life to defend ourselves or our families, would not see it as an opportunity to cash in or become a reality TV star.
