Indeed. The problem which is really fascinating is why people think that way - or else, why do I think anyone in their shoes would think any differently? IMHO it is a matter of self-righteously taking all good things for granted, as natural rights, and complaining that that is all I get. Queen Victoria wasnt as well off in the last 8 decades of the Nineteenth Century as an American secretary is after the first decade of the Twenty First Century. Many things - not least, transcontinental/intercontinental air travel - which are commonplace and readily affordable today were not available to Victoria at any price. The list of such things is long, and starts with medical technology which is worthy of the name today, and the lack of which made Victoria a widow for the last 20 of her 81 years. The key problem of socialism is that since it takes what is for granted, and does not respect the credit due to the people who made what is, socialism subverts any incentive to make what could be in the future turn into what is. Worse, as Peters et al pointed out in In Search of Excellence, the reality is that "if you are not trying to get better, you are getting worse. So what is turns into what was - a lost golden age.
Hey, but you have free health care!"
Corporatism is such a catch-all term for societal structures that there is not a single government in human history to which it doesn’t apply.
But I suppose Corporatism is coming to mean an unholy welding together of the totalitarian machinery of the state, fascistic unions, TBTF banks and competition-averse corporations who all seek to maintain their parasitic position on top of the tax-payer.
It’s not a small-state, primacy of the individual philosophy like Conservatism. It’s big-state, “collective rights” Socialism.
This is not news.
Sure MSNBC has become the Christie/Bob” McDonnell channel lately ignoring other stories that don't favor Dems,
but FNC is similar. They spend little or no time reporting bad news for GOP and zero news about GOP disunity, and instead stories that embarrass Dems dominate, like Obamacare as #1.
I see them as the two party's channels.
