Who fired first on who?

And where there NO human rights violations by the Confederate Army?

Yes, Slavery has been with us through most of human history but it absurd for you to say, on the one hand, that the War was not about slavery, and then defend slavery.

You sound like the Holocaust deniers who say it never happened and then say that it should happen again.

The facts support your article. I’ve long argued that it was not a “civil war”, which is defined as a war between citizens of the same country, but rather a “war of Northern aggression.” Nothing in the Constitution forbids states from seceding. Your article is great because it’s based on facts and not the fabrications of the victors. Lincoln should have listened to that member of his cabinet that suggested he let the South go in peace. Great article.

Didn't the south fire the first shot?

“Before Lincoln, the united states was more akin to the EU.”

I’m sure that Brussels would disagree with that equation. They consider themselves much more powerful that the antebellum US Federal Government.

How many battles were fought in Confederate states and how many in Union states? I’ll bet 99% were fought in the Confederacy.

Slavery was the great original sin of America's founding and I wish it had never been established on our soil. I think it was a great evil. But that being said I still maintain that Lincoln was a tyrannt, the South had every legal right to secede and that the War of Northern Aggression was NOT a Civil War. The South wasn't looking to overtake the North, all they wanted was their legal right to secede. In response, Lincoln waged war on the PEOPLE of the southern states. He burned their farms, plantations, cities and towns. Destroyed public works and railroads. Bombarded populations. He was a despot guilty of multiple war crimes.

But the North won the war and as usual the winners get to write the history.

While that would be fun, it would be a little redundant.

And yet you sit there and deny known facts about Lincoln to protect your version of history.

Years ago I would have thought this concept was bogus. As I see the Federal govt encroaching upon my life, however...........

Something to remember in dark times -- if people are not careful, their actions will be ascribed to bad motivations, by future generations.

I believe that the South could have been more politically wise and more clearly fought in favor of states rights and economic liberty. However, because of a number of factors, they are forever tagged with "fighting in favor of slavery". The truth -- whatever it might be -- is inconsequential. History's judgment has been made.

People who now see their Federal govt encroaching would be wise to always keep their own motivation on the clearly moral side. Otherwise, our next civil war will be fought "because the Republicans hated women and homosexuals, and wanted to bring back slavery".
