Democrats lamest argument for extending deficit-based unemployment benefits beyond 26 weeks:Bush

I notice congressional Democrats and MSNBC hosts, their guests and contributors have been citing how unemployment comp was extended under GW Bush a few times without equivalent spending cuts, as a reason for doing it again now.

They are using the same argument for raising minimum wage. ‘Bush did that too so do it again now’

So they ask : ‘Why are the current Republicans opposing what Republicans supported under GWB ?’.

Forget that Pelosi and Reid took over congress in 2007 and Bush was making deals with them to get stuff he wanted passed.

The answer to this seems so simple but Republicans can’t see it.

Obama, Pelosi and Reid won power largely by running against Bush economic policies. The country’s economy took a huge nose dive from the end of 2008 through some of 2009; and over and over these Dems put the blame for it solely on Bush economic policies, using it effectively for Obama’s first four years. Even now they still reference it as ‘The Great Recession’. GWB was the endless well for them to go to for four years.

In fact in a youtube video Can you afford all of Governor O'Malley's Tax Hikes? (April 15, 2013). my Dem governor Martin O ‘Malley is asked if Maryland can afford all of his tax hikes on them, and he replied : ‘What middle class families can’t afford is more of the disgusting economic policies that GWB brought to our country’

But now GW Bush economic policies seem to look pretty good to Dems. They keep citing them and him (Bush) over and over as reasons to repeat them now. 'Do it again because Bush did it'

the HOUSE should add to this benefits bill a bunch of tax breaks for businesses, especially credits for providing jobs to the unemployed.

WAKE UP, JOHNNY B!

Sometimes I wonder if the Democrats got everything they want: high minimum wage, government healthcare, carbon taxes, government only education, universal unions, 100+% taxes on the rich, state ownership of most property and resources, and all that is not specifically permitted is prohibited - would they be happy? I think I would like to watch the result from some far away shore.
