My personal opinion—FWIW—is that Shadowstats inflation of nearly 10% is on the high side, CPI is on the low side, and the truth is somewhere in between. But, I could see inflation getting worse.
Every time I look at an orange juice container and see that a half gallon (really 64 oz) is now sold at 59 ounces; or that coffee more often comes in 12 ounce bags than full pounds, or that the CPI has “hedonic” adjustments which overstate the quality of what you are getting, I realize all’s not well.

OJ , from concentrate , 64oz at my local walmart went from $1.98 to $2.29 in the last 2 months , a 15% increase... it used to be that I could find it at that price in several stores .. now that higher price is the best available.
Ah, but that's the trouble with inflation -- it can't be measured. There is no such thing as a price level, everyone buys a different mix of goods at different times.
