New York State To Legalize Cannabis

ALBANY, N.Y. – New York would become the 21st state to allow medical use of marijuana under an initiative Gov. Andrew Cuomo will unveil this week.

Cuomo plans to use administrative powers rather than legislative action to allow a limited number of hospitals to dispense marijuana for certain ailments. He will formally announce his plans in his state of the state speech Wednesday.

From what I've gathered, later this week Gov. Cuomo of New York State will be using an executive order to legilize cannabis for Medicinal Use. Politicially, it's a brilliant move for the man, and here is why: Obamacare was the big Progressive Push, and no one on either end of the political spectrum can really argue that it went over like a fart in church. The poor implementation and a million other little crisis that we are all too familiar with mean that the Democratic Party has a big uphill fight the next election cycle. Obama has been holding the ship together for them because "he's the first black president", in next election the D's will have have Joe Biden (stop laughing please), Hillary "Who Cares What Anyone Knew" Clinton, and... Andrew Cuomo? Here's a very basic fact: we have our political ideology because we more or less feel the same about politicial issues, and our opponents also feel the same about their political issues. If I'm talking about being pro-guns, pro-babies, and pro-small government, chances are that I lean to the right. If I'm talking about adding gun laws, making abortion cheaper and more readily available, and adding additional government programs to "help the downtrodden", I'm probably leaning to the left. If I were a top Democrat planner looking at the politicial climate, it would be in my best interest to try to divide the base of the other party. And that's hard to do, because conservatives, libertarians, and the like all seem to share a basic core of values, and it's hard to drive a rift into a group of people with a basic core of values. There are a couple of exceptions, and cannabis is the big one. If the Democrats push for massive cannabis legalization, they will find that the libertarians are very pro cannabis, whereas many conservatives are not. This single issue would get the vast majority of the younger generation voting D. I am very curious as to other Freepers thoughts on this matter.

Looks like the pretend to be moderate days are over for the far left. They are commies/socialists. No need in hiding it anymore. They clearly believe they can buy more than enough votes to stay in office forever. Even if their polices are miserable failures they choose to believe they can use enough of our money to buy votes for their candidates. So far they have been right.
