Plant "bird food" type plants around your yard or in fields.
I noted the other day to the wife that our 2 feeders seemed to be less used this year..
However when ever I go in the back yard the hedges and back field area where we planted seed-baring plants are always populated with cardinals, juncos, wrens, and finches..
I also regularly chased of large flocks of migrating starlings and blackbirds during the fall to better supply the wintering birds here in the upstate SC..
A couple of loud hand claps mimicking a gun shot usually did the trick.

I LOVE my birding activities! Feed only Black Oil Sunflower seed; that’s the cheapest. Supplement with raisins & peanuts from The Dollar Store. You’ll have lots of great birds, and few of the Sparrows and Grackles. :)
