Repeating from other thread. I believe it’s important:

VERY nice!

Aside from avoiding getting into a, “Knock-Out Game,” situation in the first place, we need to develop a strategy to defend against this sort of situation. With and without a firearm present.
My Wife and I discuss this almost every day. Best we could come up with is to keep one’s head on a swivel at all times, practice our draw often, and if it’s a group-forward attack, put our backs against a wall and stand at the ready.

Any other suggestions?

I believe in being proactive, so here's my suggestion. Do not go anywhere that is on a bus line.

I strongly recommend to anyone who conceals carry that they also have a serious sheath knife that can be quick drawn.

Many of these type attacks happen well within Tueller Drill range, and the attackers use feints to get even closer, such as asking if you have a cigarette or a lighter, or other such ruse while walking towards you. Alternatively, they use a fly-by attack, so you have minimal time to evade or even recognize they are attacking you.

In either case, a knife is out quick, and in the 0-5 foot range. There is no hesitation in the draw, and if the blade is hidden behind the forearm, handle in hand, it is very discreet. You can draw it when they are half a block away and nobody will notice. You do not appear aggressive at all.

If they are outside the blade range and not approaching, then you have lots of flexibility about drawing your gun.

Get a bunch of old keys and put them on a heavy key ring.

Tie the key ring to a loop of heavy cord you can wear around your wrist and the keys will be about 10” from your hand.

Not too many people want to get hit with a bunch of keys on the end of a rope and police just see a bunch of keys not a deadly weapon in your hand.

Would it be possible to outfit one’s glasses with rear view mirrors to help with the “swivel” scans? Or the wife have her compact out with the mirror for the same effort?

I didn’t buy it, but I ended up with one of those really short dog leashes for tall, powerful dogs. I attached several key rings to it, and it’s easy to carry. It’s also a wicked weapon.
