Many facts often are. Just try bringing up the relative violent crime rates of various ethnic groups in the US; if you point this out to an average group of people, the cry of "racist!" will inevitably come out. If pressed, they'll probably eventually admit that you do have the facts on your side, but say that you have to be bigoted to bring them up.

Problem is there are now more tax users than taxpayers. Romney was excoriated for telling the truth.

Dennis Miller had a clever comment about those who constantly yap about the 1%. He said those folks remind him of the Manson family members sitting around the campfire at Spahn Ranch.
