The designer of the plane has a BFA degree. I don’t doubt he has mad Photoshop skills, but that’s really all that separates him from a 6th grader who doodles “AWESUM FIGHTER JETS” on a back page of his notebook.

What makes it unpractical? It is an interceptor to defend vast areas. It was a nice recon platform, practically invulnerable before AMRAAM missile and still almost invulnerable if flown carefully.
The Avro was officially cancelled due to cost. The Canadians just could not afford them. I have read that the real reason was the plant was full of Russian spies and they were stealing every performance feature in real time.
The Canadians were given a good deal on F101 Voodoo fighters which were good planes. I know the first William Tell Air Gunnery competition at Tyndall Field Florida was won by a Canadian National Guard outfit flying F101s.
