Common Core Teaches Kids Government Must Be Obeyed

Schools: Opposition is rising to new national education standards pushed on public schools. They have turned schools into re-education camps for liberalism, with political statements masquerading as English lessons.

If one had to include one speech by President Ronald Reagan as recommended reading in a national standardized curriculum it might be the one in which he stood in front of the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin and said, "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!"

One might pick Reagan's first inaugural address when he said, "Government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem." Or even his 1964 "A Time for Choosing" on behalf of Barry Goldwater that launched him to political prominence.

The speech chosen by Common Core for its English Standards, which recommends "exemplar texts" for reading, including addresses by a host of worthy historical figures — such as Patrick Henry, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Franklin Roosevelt and Martin Luther King — was Reagan's May 1988 speech to students at Moscow University.

It is a fine speech and in it he speaks of the fruits of liberty in the West and of the promise of the "Moscow Spring" but its softer tone does not speak of the "evil empire" that would soon come crashing down.

There is no stirring rhetoric on the evils of tyranny, or of the dangers of big government.

Could it be that recommending a Reagan speech that defines government as the problem rather than the solution might conflict with the subliminal messages in a worksheet that asks students to rewrite sentences to make them "less wordy." Sentences like, "The commands of government officials must be obeyed by all."

When Pres. Reagan was in office the architects of the Common Core curriculum were driving around in battered, rusted out VW’s and Volvos held together with QUESTION AUTHORITY bumper stickers. At the time they were snot-nosed college kids who had all the answers. The problem is, they never understood the questions, and never will.

So much for “dissent is patriotic”.

Thankfully government at so many levels has lost so much credibility in the last decade that there is little hope of churning out obedient little drones. People will be passive/submissive when they have something to lose; too many people today have no net worth and no prospects. Here in NJ we had ayoung man fire off some rounds in a mall (didn’t hurt anyone) before killing himself; expect to see similar bizarre behavior increase as the average person finds themselves in the same boat (and neighborhood) as the ghetto trash.

Here in NJ the black market is growing rapidly, accelerated by the replacement of taxpaying Americans with illegal aliens. They are great takers, and make nothing; they contribute nothing to the general good. When Newark laid off 160 cops recently, it was just an acknowledgment that people who contributed nothing can’t afford police protection; expect to see that trend continue as they also can’t afford class sizes smaller than 75 children each.

Back in the late 70’s I got away with so much. When a teacher started up with how benevolent the north was with the south post CW, I called him on it. He offered to allow me to teach the next class thinking that it would scare the heck out of me. Lets just say that it it didn’t work out how he planned.

It is unrealistic to think that everyone can home school. If you have to do PS, please allow your kids to question teachers and give them the tools to do it. I cannot even imagine the balance that parents have to strike in this day. It has to be maddening.

I mean, like, wasn’t the current total takeover of the American education system not enough for them?

I kind of know what you’re talking about.

In the late 60’s, my family moved from Alabama to (the)Seattle (area). I had to attend a school that taught that I was racially biased because of how I spoke, and where I came from (my first all white high school). Not many people recalled the school buses being attacked in the Boston area (not racial, of course). I had a brother KIA in VietNam, but I was a “Hawk” because I believed in my brother (and his many brothers). Hanoi Jane is still a piece of s**t in my book and her fellow protester, Kerry, can do something vile and go the f**k away.

Keep up the effort, just try to do what is right. Also, talk to others and let them know what’s really going on.
