Sounds freaky, but apparently the Israeli’s do it that way too. They use Army based rank structures. I don’t even know if they have a distinctive uniform.
Canada went that way in the 1970s but returned to the traditional maritime service ranks later.
No the Chinese preface all their miliatary with PLA - Peoples Liberation Army - so you have PLA Army, PLA Navy, PLA Airforce and PLA Marines. I think it speaks to their central concentration on land forces on top of the historical context of mao’s PLA army.
