Cronyism, incompetence cited in failure of healthcare.gov site
American Thinker ^ | October 15, 2013 | Rick Moran

A report by a private foundation on how the Obamacare website was designed reveals that cronyism and sheer incompetence is at fault for the spectacular failures of the rollout.

InfoWorld summed it up: "It was built by people who are apparently far more familiar with government cronyism than they are with IT."

---------------- (snip) ---------------

All the same, CGI Federal -- which received $88 million for its work since March of this year -- told Congress in September it was indeed ready for the onslaught of users that would come when Healthcare.gov opened to the public. The same was claimed by UnitedHeath subsidiary Quality Software Services, another partner in the project that received $55 million for its work.

One other name in particular on the contractor list probably won't be familiar to readers, but ought to be from now on: Science Applications International Corp., or SAIC. Nominally a defense contractor, SAIC has been involved with many government projects with ghastly end results, such as New York City's fraud- and corruption-riddled $600 million CityTime payroll software boondoggle. When the East Bay Express reported on Oakand, Calif.'s surveillance plan, it was worried about SAIC's involvement in that project as well, not least because the people hiring SAIC for the job seemed unaware of the company's reputation.

They planned for it to fail and for us to get so upset that we would beg for single-payer.

Remember back when there would’ve been dire repercussions for such a failure? Good times.

How much of that 680 MILLION to ostensibly design the super whizbang Obamacare site wound up in numbered Swiss accounts owned by members of obozo’s ongoing criminal enterprise and connected politicians?

They sure as hell didn’t spend it on IT activities!

Paging Representative Issa: Another obozo related matter for you to probe. This time with subpoenas straight out of the gate!

Wow. Exactly everything that is wrong with government!

You'd think that they would have done a better job since Obamacare is so controversial. They must be really stupid or think that the voters are stupid.

Welcome to government run healthcare.

Why would a contract like this be rewarded for a product that doesn’t deliver?

My husband is a contractor ...he doesn’t get paid until they deliver to the customer.

Single payer is all the Left wants. This current plan was just a stepping stone. And the Left always greets failure with even bigger government programs. Single payer, here we come.

Eventually, the merry-go-round will stop. And the debts will come due. Seems like the day is fast approaching.

These are not mutually exclusive.

That's why it's called cronyism. Delivery of the goods is not required.

“every body is just gonna LOVE $7/gal gas, $8/gal milk and $10/lb hamburger.”

Au contraire, as long as the president has a D after his name, there will be nary a mention. Remember when the price of gas briefly went over $3.50 when Bush was in office? The media went apesh@t ballistic about it for weeks where it was the top story in every newspaper and every newscast in the country. Now, I believe it has been over 3 or 4 years since I have seen a gas price under $3.50...well, at least not one under $3.00.
