That is VASTLY DIFFERENT from a website that is taking input and accessing back end databases, matching up information, etc..
Comparing the two is truly comparing apples and oranges.
Now, if you want to simply belittle the Federal Government for not being able to put up a website given their limitless access to money (our tax dollars) then by all means go for it!
True, but there are plenty of commercial websites that can handle 5 million hits per day and actually perform transactions. And for healthcare.gov they are quoting hits, not even unique users or attempted transactions.
Consider traffic loads on sites like reddit, kayak, Amazon, Walmart, Bank of America, Facebook etc. It is well known in the industry how to support large numbers of transactions per day, well over the number that apparently caused healthcare.gov to grind to a halt.
