For the first 140 yrs our country raised revenue mainly thru TARIFFS. Now..everyone wants to keep Marxist progrssive income taxes

Why does this scare you! State of Texas introduces a Constitutional Amendment passes it through their legislature then after it passes it goes to another state. The Amendment can not be ratified unless 2/3 of the States pass it! If the Amendment doesn’t get enough States it dies!!!
You might be interested to know that Bastiat’s “The Law” he equated protection with slavery and grouped three plundering isms of communism, socialism and protectionism together.
