I do not remember where I read this but someone said to have the yard solar lights to use inside when power is out. I thought that was a great idea.

Our county is offering rebates for solar systems. Apparently quite a large amount.

Also make sure they use a AA nicad battery and you can use them as battery chargers for flashlights, headlamps and portable radios.

I have solar lamps and always keep one in my bedroom window and checked it not long ago. It has a low and high setting and high lights the whole room. These lamps are made for third world countries and our volunteers that go to those countries take these lamps to use and then leave them with the people when they leave. They are fine lamps.

Friend in Alabama used solar yard lights last time they were without power for few days. Swears they were very valuable - he found tem on closeout couple years ago.
