The article lists several good reasons to doubt the accuracy of annual sea level rise measurements.

Water levels change due to water temperature, salt content, ice cap extent, land movements (lifting, subsidence, tectonics), tides, waves, wind. Satellites have errors of 1-2 cm, and yet supposedly measure annual change of 0.3 mm.

Why do several government agencies agree on the number? Is it collusion?

{ But a look at natural ocean variation shows that official sea level measurements are nonsense. ]

True. What is an even more fallacious and long termed belief is that shorelines change because the ocean is getting larger or smaller.

On the overall scale, the ocean is as smooth and uniform as a glass ball, while the land it surrounds is what moves up and down like a fishing bobber.

Because consensus nets you more money than disagreement.

Sorry, that should read "3 mm," not 0.3 mm.

Hussein got elected and sea levels stopped rising. The goofball scientists who voted for the Kenyan should put it in their report.

A rise in global sea level must, absolutely must, change the Earth’s rotation rate. This luckily is something we can do with considerable precision.

Could it be that our leading scientists must endorse sea-level rise to support the ideology of man-made global warming?

Not if they're real scientists; pseudo-scientists, however can endorse all manner of ludicrous propositions.

A scientific hypothesis must state a specific mechanism that can be falsified by testing or observation of physical data. When someone like Michael Mann goes out and says CO2 will lead to a vague and general "climate chaos", he is not acting like a scientist. And his idea is unscientific.

I am no scientist, but I know one thing.

There isn’t a freaking thing man can do about the Oceans rising.

If icecaps melt, levels rise, but if icecaps grow due to increased snowfall, levels fall.

is this true ? aren't icecaps generally over land ? why would levels fall ?

Climate is controlled by multiple variables, some so subtle that we don’t even know for sure what they all are - most, like cloud cover, we have no reliable way of measuring or relating in any consistent manner to actual climate variability - beyond simple one-to-one correspondence, we don’t know how the many variables interact with and affect each other, and how those interactions would in turn relate to climate change - most of the variables we do know of are not controllable so that it is virtually impossible to conduct predictive or replicative studies on the climate - - the doctrine of man-made climate change is a fantasy and a scam in search of a few data-points to prop it up......

Today, leading scientific organizations support the idea that the ocean level is rising due to man-made emissions. Further, they claim to be able to measure ocean level to a high degree of accuracy.

You mean these "leading scientific organizations" have never seen the gravimetric surface of the earth?

Measuring Sea Level Changes to a few millimeters?

I am just unreasonably skeptical.

But three millimeters is about the thickness of two dimes. Can scientists really measure a change in sea level over the course of a year, averaged across the world, which is two dimes thick?

Maybe - but they would have to stop the wind and the waves and the oceanic streams and the volcanic activity and the effects of the moon and the the Sun and the other neighbors on the tides, stabilize the temperature so no Arctic ice melted or froze, control the rains and let everything sit until it stabilized to get the initial measurement - then leave it like that and wait a year to take the next one.
