I don’t know that this would be such a boon to us, having Senators not elected popularly. There’s a pile of RINOs and used-to-be Democrats in the South Carolina houses, bought and paid for by trial lawyers and Duke Energy just like LG. I think we’re better off electing them directly, especially with the newly energized conservative bloc.

Consider just one difference among several if senators were once again appointed by the states.

What is the chance our federal courts would be filled with anti-tenth amendment judges? With senators responsible to the states, is it reasonable to expect senators to reject nominees hostile to the senators’ employers?

Yes.
