Thanks to the rise of social programs and wars, government spending has exploded up to 24.4% of Real GDP.

That is a whopping 1/4 of the total economy!

Let’s look at a few empirical oddities.

1. Mortgage purchase applications are falling with the employment to population rate.

2. M2 Money Velocity is falling with labor force participation rate.

3. 43% of Americans pay no Federal taxes. At least as not as 47% as a while ago, but it still means that 53% are pulling the freight for the 43%.

4. Real median income continues to flounder.

5. Obama Income Redistribution Starts Oct 1st. Now you pay way more for less coverage. Thanks Center for American Progress!

5. Government still controls over 90% of the mortgage market. Will they give up the control for affordable housing goals? They worked so well for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac! /sarc

Keeping in mind that Federal Employees are ONE person, and a FAMILY income includes about ONE AND A HALF people working, the Federal Employee gets more money than the whole non-Federal Family still!

I could go on all day. I guess I’ll stop in the interest of bandwidth and boredom. But suffice it to say, the ability to document the wasteful extravagance of government is unlimited. Like their budgets and egos.
