PA Fair Will Allow Concealed Carry After Threats of Boycott When They Tried to Ban Legal Guns

stock_holsterThe Bloomsburg Fair has decided to reverse their policy of banning guns at the event following enormous feedback and threats of boycott.

Facebook pages calling attention to the ban and calling for a boycott had attracted thousands of fans in a matter of days.

According to NewsItem.com,

President Paul E. Reichart said the board will not be checking for or banning lawfully concealed weapons.

“While we cannot prevent those who want to commit unlawful acts, we recognize those who are law abiding citizens and will continue to handle it on a case-by-case basis,” he said.

“As far as we’re concerned, it’s a dead issue. We want people to come to the Bloomsburg Fair,” he said.

Fair officials say they will not be allowing openly carried firearms, but concealed carry by licensed individuals will be allowed.

Security personnel will also not be patting down entrants to look for concealed weapons.

I believe this all started when Clearfield County PA, just north of Centre County PA (Penn State) announced a similar ban last month. That ban was rescinded earlier this week after numerous complaints.

When I first read that Clearfield County had banned guns at it’s fair I laughed. Probably 80% to 90% of county residents there are registered carry holders, and if they boycotted the fair it would have folded the first day.

I “trespassed” yesterday by keeping my concealed piece when I went into an establishment that had a brand new, shiny sign up telling me the 2nd Amendment stopped at it’s front door. Until they put in detectors or start frisking folks, there will be some folks left to defend themselves and the sheep if the bad guys decide to take advantage of an unprotected salt lick...Of course, since I might get in trouble for helping out, I might reserve the protection for just me and mine and let the rest help deplete the bad guy’s ammo - won’t know unless the highly unlikely occurs. Still pray I never have to aim at another person.
