I just had it last December, took me 6 weeks to recover (2 of which were figuring out what the heck I had).

The problem with the vaccine, is if you are under 60 you need a doctor’s prescription to get it. I’m just over 40. The CDC doesn’t really want to give to people younger than 60, basically due to the effectiveness of the shot.

The problem, is that once you’ve recovered from the boil-like blisters, pain, and itching... there is phantom neuropathy (sp?) that is residual in the affected areas. I’m going for a doctor’s visit in the AM to see if I can get the shot, because that helps eliminate the pain.

Chicken Pox, who knew that all those chicken pox play dates so many years ago, would come back to all of us with a vengeance?

(shakes head)

I figured out what I had as soon as I broke out. I was feeling pain in that area for about a week prior: I thought it was a back-ache.

Once I got an anti-viral from the doctor, it went away pretty quickly. I had a relatively mild case, so there wasn't any recovery. It hurt, but I could still work.

I did have the phantom neuropathy for a while. It didn't last more than a few months.
