It's been an interesting week, to say the least. Obama, fresh from his personal takedown of Osama Bin Laden, (busssshtttttt excuse me, little sneeze there) - felt like he needed to get back in the Saddle and take Bashir al-Assad down a couple of pegs. Epic military exploits on the battlefield, make a Commander-in-chief hungry for more. He ordered a contingent of warships over to the Eastern Mediterranean including the USS Mahan and the USS Ramage, to stand by for orders to launch cruise missiles - which with some luck might miss the Presidential palace, but kill some civilians and with some bad luck, might explode some Sarin gas canisters and kill even more.
But a funny thing happened on the way to the big dance. Obama's date, David Cameron called to say he couldn't make it to the sock hop he forgot he had a hair appointment (with Parliament, who was looking for his scalp).
Join me for a jaundiced look at what didn't work, what is ordinarily supposed to work (for Imperial Presidencies) and what we might expect to see beginning September 9th. It's an offer you can't refuse eh?

What seems to have caused you to excerpt your own blog?
Au contraire! The tail wagged so hard it damaged the poor dog's spine. All the multifarious scandals have gone into remission. No one cares now. COngressmen can breath sighs of relief. The pressure is OFF. They don't have to pretend any more that they mean to embarrass the kenyan about all his unconstitutionalities and evil.
(a) Congress just might vote to support this insane venture, thanks to spineless Republicans led by McCain and Graham, et al.
(b)The die seems cast here. That is, The Mombasa MF will order an attack ... a demonstration ... a something to save his egg-covered face ... despite whatever Congress says. Damn the consequences.
Then, you are 100% correct. The brouhaha drives all thoughts of other scandals from the national scene and the Republicans are free to return to business as usual ... dividing up the swag with their friends "across the aisle."
Game, set and match!
What happened to the cocky muzzie from the debates that handled bin Laden and told candy to repeat about the terrorist attacks?
The “controversy” has already driven “all thoughts of other scandals from the national scene.” That may be a contributing factor to his dithering. That tactic seems to be as effective as lobbing missiles into the sand might be, and provides a smaller chance for pitfalls(for the kenyan, not for the USA) later.
Just to PI$$ *YOU* off. And it works every time.
PS: some of us enjoy reading the blogs, and helping these folks build their online publishing brands.
It’s no skin off my teeth to click on the link. Takes me less time to do that than it does for you to complain about it.
You are welcome to your own opinion, as always. I just posted mine.
Bravo!!!
You equate asking a polite question (that never gets an answer) with being pissed off?
How sensitive.
HG —
You have been here a while as have I.
I think you are being disingenuous in trying to describe your approach to blog posts-as-excerpts as “polite.”
My perception is that you are uniform in your approach, and personally would never infer it to be “polite.”
Most/many posts here start with an excerpt leading to a potential click-through to the news site URL; the bloggers who post here are the same. It costs us and FReerepublic nothing for you and I or any reader to click through to the blog home page.
You are free to jump on these guys and gals, just as I am free to click through.
FWIW, the blog is a good read.
I don’t happen to like bloggers using FR as a free source of advertising.
Nothing prevents them from posting their full content.
Thank you for being forthright.
I hit it. Me likey.
I’m fairly sure that’s included in the statement.
Gunner my friend,
It’s because I love you, was thinking of you and always enjoy hearing from you. Have a terrific week. Mean it. - RC

“I have no complaint if a good conservative blogger posts his own material to FR, not as an excerpt to drive hits and discussion back to his blog, but rather to impart useful information to OUR readers and to promote and join in on the discussion and conservative activism HERE on FR.”
