Do not call America's Founders "Founding Fathers" they aren't my daddy!
Renew America ^ | September 2, 2013 | Jake Jacobs

I teach an American Government class for a University of Wisconsin College. The other day my supervising Professor in critiquing my class Syllabus made this statement:

"I prefer that you not refer to the founders as Founding Fathers....my reason is that they aren't my daddy. My ancestors weren't even here at the time and I think calling people your daddy is not as objective as political scientists should aim to be."

Ignoring his subjectivity in a number of other areas in his curriculum, for example his analysis of Wisconsin Governor Walker's Balanced Budget Act 10 smacked more of a subjective, slanted, skewed, biased State employee than a so called objective "political scientist" but I digress. Here's how I responded to his request:

"I prefer to refer to the founders as Founding Fathers. I'm in pretty good historical company here. From Daniel Webster's 1820 Discourse Delivered At Plymouth to Abraham Lincoln's 1858 Electric Cord Speech they and many other great American Statesmen referred to our Founders as Fathers and as ancestors all the time. They and many others taught, as I do, that being an American is ultimately not about ethnic or blood identification it is about one word: Freedom. Therefore the self-evident reality that all men are created equal and free makes us an "American Family related by Freedom." Thus my freedom ancestors, my freedom fathers were here in 1776 and 1787 and I as a free American citizen and a free American teacher I prefer to call them Fathers as it conveys to my students the spirit of our Founders and the blessings of Liberty."

I'm really out of things to say.

How did it get like this in America?

That says all that needs be said about the laughable standards of that college.

Leave now, else you will have to learn, “Do you want to supersize that?”

"...I prefer that you not refer to the founders as Founding Fathers....my reason is that they aren't my daddy..."

Someone needs to tell this self-absorbed supervisor professor twit that it isn't all about him. That's right. It isn't YOU they are the founding fathers of, you mental midget.

I’d tell that supervising professor to take his personal opinion and cram it.

You're right! I'm guessing that your ideology and what passes for logic in your "mind" means you DON'T deserve to be called a child of theirs, philosophically. Nevertheless, they DO have descendents, both physically and philosophically, so the term fits. Suck it!

“I think calling people your daddy is not as objective as political scientists should aim to be.” “

Obviously just another uneducated college employee.
He is a simpleton that equates the word ‘father’ for ‘daddy’. He probably doesn’t know who his daddy is.

I can just imagine the neurotic, America hating individual who said this. Glad most of my professors were math, physical science or engineering profs. They were neutral or conservative.

Like all socialist, statist, big government scumbags, this “supervising Professor” considers government his daddy. And his mommy.

Has this professor ever heard of the concept of a metaphor?

Maybe someone should explain that “fathers” doesn’t mean a literal genetic parent.

Wow! "Smart" people really are stupid, huh?

Is it too much for this fool to comprehend that "Fathers" refers to the country, as in The United States of America, and not to any person or people?

Probably, he does, but just wants to poke a stick in the eyes of real American patriots - you know, people who actually believe in the principles of constitutional government, and not a "beloved" totalitarian dictator, like this Zero lover obviously does.

I wonder what the idiot prof would say about me “owing” blacks for former misdeeds of slave owners. I wasn’t here for that nor were my father or his father.
