Please act now using the three tools on this page to stop Obamacare. If you want some background, please click here. I can't post contact-congress widgets that work on FR, so the widgets for contacting your House rep and senators will open in separate windows.

  1. Take 20 seconds to fill in your first name, last name, and email address; click one button; and join almost 1 MILLION Americans in signing a petition that urges all members of the House and Senate to defund and stop Obamacare. After signing the petition you'll need to watch for a confirmation email. Click the link in this email to confirm you signature of the petition.
  2. Take one minute to send a message to your House representative urging him/her to support H.R. 2682, The Defund Obamacare Act of 2013, sponsored by Rep. Tom Graves (R-GA). I've put together optional sample text to include in your letter; click here to review, edit and copy the sample letter. After sending your message you'll need to watch for a confirmation email. Click the link in this email to confirm your message.
  3. Take one minute to send a message to your Senators urging them support S. 1292, The Defund Obamacare Act of 2013, sponsored by Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX). I've put together optional sample text to include in your letter; click here to review, edit and copy the sample letter. After sending your message you'll need to watch for a confirmation email. Click the link in this email to confirm your message.

Sample letter text for supporting H.R. 2682: The Defund Obamacare Act of 2013, sponsored by Rep. Tom Graves (R-GA).

I urge you to support H.R. 2682: The Defund Obamacare Act of 2013. Obamacare will increase health care costs, cause insurance premiums to rise, will hurt the quality of health care, require a nearly $570 billion in tax hikes, and add over $500 billion to the national debt. Congress should drop Obamacare completely and pursue a careful and thoughtful process to develop targeted solutions that address practical problems in the health care system based on the principles of personal ownership, consumer choice, and free markets.

Sample letter text for supporting S. 1292, The Defund Obamacare Act, sponsored by Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX):

I urge you to support S. 1292, The Defund Obamacare Act of 2013.

Why you should oppose Obamacare

Thousands of pages of incomprehensible legal gobbledegook cannot cure extremely complex social problems. If Congress were really intent on solving our health care crisis, it would take a simple, methodical, and common sense approach. Obamacare is about bloating an already over-bloated government, about spending money we don't have, about quid pro quo pork, and about professional politicians trying to show the people that they're "doing something." If you want to know why Obamacare is a disaster, read these common sense and in-depth analyses here and here. A summary of these articles is provided below. First, from the GOP:

ObamaCare And Its Unconstitutional Mandate Drives Up Health Care Costs, Increases Insurance Premiums, Hurts The Quality Of Health Care, Raises Taxes, And Blows Up The Deficit

The Evidence:

  1. Increases Health Care Costs

  2. Causes Insurance Premiums To Rise

  3. Hurts Quality Of Health Care

  4. Nearly $570 Billion In Tax Hikes

  5. Adds Over $500 Billion To The Debt ...

From the Heritage Foundation:

  1. ... The individual mandate is an intrusion into personal liberty. ...

  2. ... Tax increases in the new health care law will impede an already stagnant economic recovery. ...

  3. ... An honest accounting of the new health care law's fiscal impact reveals Obamacare as a trillion-dollar budget buster. ...

  4. ... The employer mandate will raise the cost of doing business and discourage job growth. ...

  5. ... Health care exchanges and subsidies in Obamacare further complicate the tax structure and discourage work. ...

  6. ... The new law's concept of health insurance exchanges reduces states to mere agents of federal health policy. ...

  7. ... Benefit mandates prescribed by the new health care law will make all health benefits uniform, increase the cost of coverage, and stifle insurance innovation. ...

  8. ... The age-rating rules of Obamacare and blanket prohibition on pre-existing condition exclusions will destabilize insurance markets. ...

  9. ... Giving the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) power to sponsor national health insurance plans could crowd out private coverage in the health insurance exchanges. ...

  10. ... The new health care law cuts deeply into Medicare Advantage plans, resulting in substantial reductions in the value of health care services for enrollees. ...

  11. ... Using projected Medicare savings to finance new entitlements expansion jeopardizes Medicare beneficiaries' access to care. ...

  12. ... The new Medicare board is prohibited by law from making any meaningful reforms. ...

  13. ... Instead of reforming Medicaid, the new health care law doubles down on the program's existing flaws. ...

  14. ... A new entitlement created by Obamacare, the Community Living Assistance Services and Support (CLASS) program is actuarially unsound and fiscally irresponsible. ...

  15. ... The new health care law fails to protect the conscience rights of physicians who refuse to provide or refer patients for abortions… or the conscience rights of taxpayers who refuse to pay for abortions. ...

Just received my yearly package from IBM. As of 1/1/2014 they will no longer be handling retiree health care plans. They have ‘farmed’ health care to a firm called ‘Extended Health’. IBM refers to them in the package as Exchanges. Too soon to know my financial impact.
