Intervene in Syria - Fornicate NO!

Myself and my group of gentlemen friends 'ConservOList' (soon to admit women – no application fee necessary), hash out the issues and crisis of our day via email back and forth. We've instant messaging challenged or just stuck in a rut – your choice. The topic that is front and center, of course is U.S. Intervention in Syria. The following is my viewpoint:

The appropriate response, in my opinion, is no response. Notice that 'Great Britain' in the person of David Cameron (like that last name) is imploring the U.S. to lead.   They themselves, won't take any unilateral measures. Why? We know the reason why.  Because initiating military action in Syria is like sticking your hand in between two battling cats - it's a stupid and thankless thing to do. (Late update: Cameron is backing away, because the Brits are strongly against intervention).

Here's what else I find interesting with Imperial Presidents (Bush and Obama). They first go to the United Nations to ask permission. What's wrong with that picture? Shouldn't they first get advice, consent and approval from Congress to initiate a military action that is bound to escalate? Isn't that the proper constitutional role of the President?  Being Commander In Chief is not a license to wag the dog as a means to paper over scandals and violations of oath.

Finally, the 'Accountability Review Board' gave Hillary Clinton a clean bill of health, in spite of the mountains of evidence of her (at best), dereliction of duty, and at worst... If the government is lying about everything else, how can we place any confidence in their version of what's happening in Syria? Nope, no national security interest and no clear outline of the facts. Also no defined objective or strategy to deal with unanticipated contingencies.

Don't trust this administration to do the right thing here, when for other reasons. they sat on their hands while Embassy personnel were killed in Benghazi.

Yes, the fact that Obama and Co. would be in charge is a serious factor, but when it comes to any more involvement in that sector (the Arab world, plus Pakistan / Iran), there's nothing in it for us.  We got Bin Laden - done. Removing Saddam improved nothing in Iraq. The nation building was a complete failure. Karzai, our 'ally' in Afghanistan is totally corrupt. It's gradually sinking in that you can't save these people from themselves.  They will continue to commit a holocaust on each other and you have to pull back, get out of the way and let them destroy themselves until they can no longer stomach the blood. And sadly, I don't think there is a threshold for that.

$2 Billion worth of debt that the generation after the next will owe for their entire lives. They'll look back at us and curse us. No, I don't give a good, goddamn whether the Chief Exec has an R or a D after their name - I, for one want an end put to all of this bull$hit for good. At this point, anymore bullets, anymore bombs, cruise missiles, special forces, spec ops, boots on the ground - anything, would be an answer to the question of what is the definition of insanity.

But that matters little to Obama and a good number of the stooges we've elected to Congress, whose thinking can be summed up as:

"Yeah, that Constitution thingy - kind of a persistent nuisance, let's do a work around because AlQueda, KBR, General Dynamics, Lockheed-Martin, L-3 Communications, Raytheon, Northrop-Grumman and our banking friends on Wall Street are really counting on us."

My wife has an expression for when you successfully thwart something that is arrogant and spitefully foolish.  It's called a F#cK NO!  That's my vote - F NO!

The problem is Obozo painted himself into a corner by saying he would act if chemical weapons were used.

That said, I doubt he will put boots on the ground or planes in the air. Probably just enough cruise missiles so he won't look like a total wimp. Aspirin factories and camels should be on high alert.

keep those cats fighting. Tie their tails together and throw them over a clothes line but don’t pick one favorite over the other and don’t stick your hands in the middle of it.
