With an endorsement like Chuck Schumer's, it has to be bad. House Republicans should wonder why the Senate's most partisan Democrat is happy with their "piecemeal" immigration reform strategy.
If ever Republicans had a litmus test for making sure they weren't doing something self-destructive, it's asking themselves this: Is Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., grinning about it?
Senate Democrats' chief fundraiser, Schumer engineered the gain of over a dozen seats for his party in the 2006 and 2008 elections. Any "bipartisanship" this dyed-in-the-wool liberal and relentless political militant may claim to be up to is sure to be a Trojan horse.
The Brooklyn Democrat was first elected a lawmaker at 23 nearly four decades ago and has never had a real job outside politics, not even practicing law.
He obviously would like nothing better than to crow to his comrades that he tricked their enemy into yet another amnesty for illegal aliens, providing Democrats with millions of new, dependable votes.
Schumer was definitely smiling Wednesday on CNN, "optimistic that we will get this done" and confident "things are moving in the right direction."
Having had "a lot of discussions" with congressmen of both parties, Schumer reports that House Republicans are more open than ever to amnesty for the nation's 11 million illegals, through a strategy of passing multiple bills on specifics that would be combined with the Senate's already-passed amnesty legislation in a conference.
Schumer notes that "a couple of their pieces are very similar to ours."
Sen Ted Cruz, R-Texas, warns with an eye on the failure of the 1986 "reform" that promised to end illegal immigration, the Senate bill "promises that sometime in the future trust us, 'wink, wink' we'll secure the border." Cruz's conclusion: "Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me."

When it goes back to the Senate they will load it up.
Even the fools in the House know that.
If they send it back to the Senate they are in actuality selling us out.
I use the “Schumer Test” when analyzing any proposed legislation. It’s very simple and a great time-saver: if he’s for it, I’m against it. If he’s against it, I’m for it.
The GOP is dead.
Stick a fork in it.
I await a party I can once again vote for.
Is there any more of a hint that they are doing the wrong thing? Here is what they do. Have the Senate pass a fence and enforcement bill only and send it to the House. After it is thoroughly examined for amnesty gotchas, pass it as presented in the House so there is no chance to gut it and replace it with amnesty in conference. I’ll bet the Rats won’t go for it.
Stupid Party ready to live up to its name, once again.
I love how these con men like Rubio and Paul Ryan keep telling us that everything will be okay because illegals will be forced to “pay back taxes” to the IRS... yeah, as if the same IRS that was caught illegally targeting innocent people can be trusted to collect these payments. And of course, Obama won’t unilterally waive this provision...
And then there’s the other enforcement mechanisms (drones, more agents, etc.) they keep touting in exchange for amnesty. Only an idiot can’t see where this will lead: Once amnesty is passed, Obama will demagogue away about how “we can’t afford” these new mechanisms... unless we raise taxes on people making $100,000 a year. And the Stupid Party members will be caught, deer in the headlights, once again...
The GOP is the DemocRATS’ best “secret weapon” currently being used against the American people.
My gues is that Tammy Faye has already struck a secret deal with the Senate to conference at the last minute and pass amnesty. They are waiting until after the August recess to take it up so the reps don’t have to feel the heat at their townhalls. We are going to give our rep a real good idea of our opinion at his townhall. He’s conservative but he follows the leadership.
Won’t matter anymore how loud we scream or stomp our feet. Once this passes it is over for the US.
Set him straight, so when he spins you he cannot say he wasn’t told.
