GOP Quickly Shuts Down Obama’s Grand Bargain

Republicans are already throwing cold water on the (Grand Bargain) President Obama plans to unveil this afternoon in Chattanooga, Tenn.

House Speaker John Boehner’s office this morning said Obama’s plan, which cuts the corporate tax rate in exchange for more revenues for infrastructure projects, “leaves small businesses and American families behind.”

The two parties seem to be engaging in the age-old fight over taxes and spending. While Democrats want to raise revenue, Republicans refuse and instead demand more spending cuts. Politico’s Many Raju and John Bresnahan write: “The lack of progress underscores a growing belief in Washington: The long-sought grand bargain could very well be out of reach during the Obama presidency. ... A short-term solution to the country’s fiscal woes seems more likely, but even that may not happen.”

“... in exchange for more revenues...”

“Revenues” equal “taxes” in boSpeak.

And, just where were these new revenues supposed to come from?

Grand Bargain? What the hell is that supposed to be?

Is that what replaced the Constitution?

” Mclame will come in and broker a deal. Count on it.”

And why shouldn’t he? Every time? McConnell effectively deeded the Senate over to McCain!

This won't even get to McConnell.

Boehner shut it down. DOA five hours before Bambi gave the idiot speech. A recycled, stupid idea that's going nowhere

“Obama’s plan, which cuts the corporate tax rate in exchange for more revenues for infrastructure projects”

For as long as I can remember it was said that the Republicans were for big business and the Demon-rats were for the little guy, my, my, how times have changed.

“leaves small businesses and American families behind.”

OMG!! That is such a STRONG statement I bet Obama is terrified. No wonder the Republicans are losing the PR war.

Day 1 Obama says: “Give me everything.”
Media says “Republicans refuse Obama. Racist motives possible.”

Day 10 Pelosi says “Give me 95%”
Media says: “Republicans won’t be reasonable. Nation in peril.”

Day 20 Reid says: “Give me 90%”
Media says: “Republican extremists block any compromise. The end is near.”

Day 30: Dems get 90% of what they want.
Media says: “Senior Republicans overcome crazy conservatives, save nation.”

What a media! Imagine if the Dems and RINOs had to deal with real reporters...

Well, it's true, is it not?

I'm curious. What would you have had him say?

How about Barry go pound sand? He’s demonstrated NO fiscal responsibility and an inability to be trusted. He’s lame duck until his term or impeachment.

Be done with this crap. Cut spending, cut taxes, cut burdensome regulations, do it now, do it often.

I’m sorry, the idea that Bambi made some kind of incredibly brilliant PR move here is ridiculous.

I hate the term, “Grand Bargain”. Nothing good comes from those deals.

The term “Grand Bargain” is meant to imply that it’s the result of a negotiation where all sides give a little (or a lot) in order to come to an agreement.

I prefer how Boehner’s spokesman put it earlier (paraphrased): “this is a ‘bargain’ that lets Obama tout an Obama tax plan and an Obama spending plan”.

They had to shorten the description for marketing purposes. It is actually the Grand Standing Mephistopheles-Faustian Bargain. But that doesn’t fit into the headlines.
