ERLC: Child immigrants need different status

WASHINGTON (BP) -- People brought into the United States illegally as children should not be treated in the same way as undocumented immigrants who entered as adults, a Southern Baptist public policy specialist told members of Congress.

Barrett Duke of the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission also testified that the immigration reform bill approved by the Senate needs some improvement.

Duke, the ERLC's vice president for public policy, was one of the witnesses at a July 23 hearing before a House of Representatives subcommittee. The panel considered the status of those whose parents brought them to this country as illegal immigrants while they were children.

He commended the panel for viewing children in such cases differently than adults.

"These are people who did not make a conscious decision to break the nation's immigration laws," Duke told the House Subcommittee on Immigration and Border Security. "They were brought here as minors."

The United States "should not hold these children accountable for the choices their parents made," Duke said.

Guess Who......"Legalizing only the DREAMers is not enough," said Rep. Luis Gutierrez, D.-Ill. "It would not be enough to satisfy ... the hunger for legality in the immigrant community."........

That's Cantor's plan.

...the hunger for legality in the immigrant community...

How refreshing that he is honest for once. "Legality" is all they want. Citizenship doesn't mean jack **** to them. They want the "legality" to apply for welfare, free healthcare and education, to file discrimination lawsuits, reparations for strawberry pickers, you get the picture. It's about free stuff and money.

“People brought into the United States illegally as children should not be treated in the same way as undocumented immigrants who entered as adults”

Ok. They still have to pay taxes and they are forbidden to vote in any election for the rest of their lives. They may not be on any welfare whatsoever, and are subject to a military draft. Also a 18,000 fine (1,000.. for every year from birth to 18) is to be paid.

They should have different status. They don't weigh as much as adult illegals. You don't need to pull the trebouchet back as far to return them over the border.

Illegal Immigrant Parents should have two choices:

1. Take your children back with you when we deport you.

2. We deport you and your children are put up for adoption in the US.

For an air cannon, you just reduce the pressure a little. ;)

As long as they land on the other side of the border it's all good.

Bring the Dream 9 Home: Sign & Call & Share!

Update on Dream 9: Friday, July 26th:

The Dream 9 have now been detained for 5-days, they are doing well, the facility has been monitoring all of their phone lines and is now threatening the women with solitary confinement.

What you can do to #BringThemHome:

We need urgent help from members of congress to get the Dream 9 released. Rep. Honda has been circulating a letter of support amongst members of congress, so far he has 21 sign-ons, but we need more. The deadline for the letter is Monday, July 29th, can you ask your member to sign on?

What do I ask my member of congress to do?

Call 202-225-2121 and ask for your member of congress.

Sample Script: “Hi, I was calling to ask the member to sign onto Rep. Honda’s letter asking President Obama to free the Dream 9. The dreamers turned themselves into ICE at the Nogales border asking to be allowed to come home. I really think the member should sign-onto this letter.”

If the office asks for more information you can either give them what you know, “well these kids just wanted to come home, they are undocumented, they were deported or forced to go to Mexico and now they want to be with their families so they turned themselves into the border and are now in detention. I think they should be allowed to come home and the member should support them.”

Let the office know they can contact Rep. Honda’s office, ask for Helen, and find out more information about the letter.

What do I do after I call my member?

After you reach out to your member please send an email to Kiran@TheNiya.org so she can follow up with your member’s office and make sure they have followed through.

Our goal is to have 40 members signed on by Monday, but we need your help!

The Petition

To President Obama & Peter Vincent, Office of General Counsel:

I write to ask for the immediate release of the Dream 8; Claudia Amaro, Adriana Gil Diaz, Luis Leon, Maria Peniche, Ceferino Santiago, Lulu Martinez, Marco Saavedra and Lizbeth Mateo. All 8 are seeking your permission to be allowed to return home to their families and communities.

I believe all of the DREAM 8 deserve a second shot at the American Dream, after all America IS the land of second opportunities. These kids did not leave the United States because they wanted to, they were all forced to leave their homes because of either deportation or policies that made living in America impossible.

Adriana left 3-months before DACA was announced because she was tired of worrying, each night, whether her mom would come home to her or end up in one of Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s jails. Luis Leon left North Carolina in 2011 because he was banned from attending the community college system. Maria Peniche, of Revere, Massachusetts, left with her younger brother and parents just 3-days before DACA was announced, they left because Maria too had dreams of one-day attending college. Claudia Amaro came to this country because her father was murdered in Mexico; she lived in Kansas for more than 17-years before being deported with her 5-year old U.S. Citizen son. Ceferino Santiago was forced to leave his family in Lexington, Kentucky because he needed a $21,000 surgery; his life depended on his leaving and now, just like the rest of the DREAM 8, he is ready to come home and re-unite with his community.

These Dreamers, despite having the same dreams as the thousands living in the United States, have no way of qualifying for DACA and other relief because their life circumstances forced them to leave. These Dreamers are now depending on your leadership to create a pathway for them to come home; President Obama, will your Administration open the door for the Dream 8 to come home?

I urge your Administration to immediately grant discretion and parole in the Dream 8.http://action.dreamactivist.org/bringthemhome

Illegals just want to come and go as they please. Our laws mean nothing. look at the examples given. It’s all based on emotions...What everyone thought, yes I just took this new car from the car lot, because i have to walk and my feet are hurting and i only held up that bank for i needed to pay my babysitter and rent.. Obama if it’s not to much trouble.. For illegals who have no ties to Mexico, they are able to go there to visit families, able to understand Spanish, able to fit in..They know Mexico very well..

An illegal alien is an illegal alien.

The only reason we are talking about legalizing them is because they will vote Democrat, early and often.
