Latino Evangelical Leaders to GOP: Legal Status for Undocumented Kids, but Not Parents, Is Unacceptable..........WASHINGTON – Immigration reform legislation that gives legal status to the children of undocumented immigrants, but not to their parents, would be unacceptable, Samuel Rodriguez, president of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference, said Wednesday in a press conference that followed a meeting with Speaker of the House John Boehner and other Republican leaders.

"Legal status for children, at the exclusion of the parents would be egregious," Rodriguez said. "We're pastors. We pastor families, not just children. We stand committed, without compromise, to family unification. So, we would be vehemently opposed to any legislative piece that legalizes children while their parents can be deported. That's anti-family, anti-Christian, anti-American. We will not accept it. Period."

At a Tuesday committee hearing, though, some Republicans suggested they would be willing to do just that.

Sorry - being a Christian has never been an excuse to break the law.

Likewise, it has never been considered a good enough reason to be exempt from the consequences of breaking it.

And that comes straight from the Big Guy himself.

God set the bounds of our habitation. They break the commandments not to covet by invading and using our welfare, food stamps and social security.

I agree families should not be split up. They should be deported as a unit.

Nope, unacceptable. Allowing the children of illegals to stay allows them to petition for their parents to come legally under present law (family reunification). Can you say backdoor amnesty?

"Legal status for children, at the exclusion of the parents would be egregious"

Quite correct. No Amnesty for any illegals.

....AND their extended families.

I’m so tired of this lie about the poor children who need legal status as if we won’t be including their families.

The greedy young illegals should stick with their parents instead of taking college places from Americans.

No sympathy from me.

Any threat of families being split up is wholly the blame of the parents who came here illegally. I say, take your kids and get out.

Where does family reunification end, you dim-bulb pastors?

Every immigrant who comes to American leaves behind family overseas. Once settled into the world’s biggest welfare state, he marches in the streets for the right to bring that family over here. When his third cousin comes over to enjoy the fruits of Obamacare, he wants to brings his own third cousin over.

The immigration family increases exponentially. It’s mathematically endless.

The evangelical Christian pastors have spoken, and they sound like many Catholic priests and Mormon leaders.

Is there any major religious coalition against immigration reform?
