When we adopted from China, we had to sign a statement that we weren't homosexual. My husband and I were a married couple, but there were also many single women that adopted, I believe some single men. The Chinese now don't allow, or allow very few single parent adoptions. With a million kids in orphanages, that's sad because the women I met were adopting as single parents because they reached an age where they wanted a child, never found a husband, were loving and had supportive extended families (many times the adoptive grandparents traveled to China with them) and Single loving parent was better then Chinese orphanage.
But word got around, and back to China, that many of these “single” adoptions were just a gay or lesbian adopting as a single, lying, and going back to live with their “partner”. This was against Chinese law but started happening frequently. So China put a stop to almost all single adoptions because of the lying gay community!
