“It can’t happen here.”
The rainbow reign of terror begins.
Is this a sneak preview of what’s to come?
Time for a mental exercise.
Imagine that it’s 2018.. five years from now. Clever homosexual activists chose a court case involving a “married” serviceman, his “husband,” and their two adopted kids. The serviceman was ordered to be re-stationed, moving from a state with homosexual marriage to a state without homosexual marriage. Building on his prior rulings, Justice Kennedy has authored another 5-4 majority opinion, finding that state amendments limiting marriage to opposite-gender couples are unconstitutional under the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment.
An excerpt from the homosexualists’ main argument:
“marriage isn’t a guaranteed right in the US Constitution. This much we admit. But the right to Equal Protection is very plainly stated in black and white. If right-wing extremists want to add ‘equal protection of the law - except for homosexuals’ or ‘except for marriage law - except for marriage law’ to the US Constitution, they’re free to attempt going through the amendment process.. and we wish them luck, as they’re going to need it. In the meantime, if you’re against gay marriage, you’re still free to continue believing this, and you’re still free to not get gay married. Simple as that.”
At the time of the ruling, about 16 states have legalized homo marriage either through the legislative process, or through popular ballot. National polling shows that between 55 and 60% of registered voters are okay with homo marriage, depending on methodology, sample, size, etc. The situation with voters under 40 is even worse, with more than 75% in favor of homo marriage.
As such, there is zero chance of an amendment to the US Constitution. Homosexualists are on TV after the ruling, confidently declaring that the war on this issue is over.
Our part of the excercise:
What do we do? Protest? Attempt to pull the GOP back to the right, away from its current lily-livered behavior pattern? Attempt to create our own private communities with mandatory Biblical standards?
A personal note: I’m getting those talking points above from my sister, who lives just outside of Jackson, MS. We’ve been having an email argument lately. She’s normally a reliable conservative, but I found out very recently that she’s been Rob Portman’d - her 16-year-old son came out to her and my brother-in-law about two months ago. It was quite a shocker.
The kid hunts (he’s a great shot at the firing range), fishes, plays football, is on the honor roll, swears that he’s never been abused or molested, and now claims that he’s known that he liked males since he was six (he told her that when he was little, he knew something was up when he noticed that he liked Bo Duke more than Daisy Duke. Absolutely insane.) He’s a good-looking kid, so he shouldn’t have any problems getting any girl he’s want, so I can’t fathom how in the hell he’d want to mess around with a guy.
So it’s been difficult lately. This is something I’m struggling with at this point. The nauseating court/polling scenario I paint above is one that I could easily see come true over the rest of the decade, and I don’t see any easy answers for our movement.
i have a feeling that in a hundred years, the nations that are now facing overwhelming secularism will become theocratic Christian nations, either by coup or eventual growing support. Or that might just be my wishful thinking...
