I completely agree. It’s unfortunate that the times we live in dictate these artificial limits on the length of games.

But both hockey and soccer would still have these one on ones with breakaways and penalty shots.

For example, in hockey:

Make the goal 6 inches wider and/or 4 inches higher.

Decrease the size of the goalie’s pads.

Relax or even eliminate the offsides rule.

For OT, take a player away from each side every 5 minutes or 10 minutes.

Do not allow the goalie to go behind the goal line - let the players go after the puck.

In soccer:

Reduce the area where the goalie can touch the ball to the immediate crease area.

Relax or eliminate the offsides rule.

Make the goal slightly larger.

Put in a halfcourt rule like basketball - no more playing keepaway back to the goalie.

For OT, take a player away from each side every 5 minutes or 10 minutes.
