I am finding that even like-minded people are fatigued with politicsal conflict to the point that they just want to "get back to living," which as far as I can tell can mean either tune out or concede everything and go along to get along. I've lost several friends over the last few years for sticking to my guns on the social issues, and I'm not talking about the Facebook kind. Friends I've laughed and cried with, sat vigils at hospitals with and shared the best days of my life with. But I will not compromise my principles and deny God for their peace of mind and comfort, and they have no right to expect me to do so.

So, yeah, it is tough out here right now.

I will not compromise my beliefs and I won’t be silenced. Why are live so scared of other opinions?

Another story...
We were at a hubs’ family wedding (RI libs) and one of the kids of one of hubs’ brothers sat down next to me at the reception and very quietly whispered that he was becoming a conservative. This kid was abandoned by his dad (hubs’ bro), raised by a nutty mom, is an ex-heroin addict and now is making his life in the restaurant business. Basically a good kid whose adult figures failed him.
Couldn’t have been more happy for him...”Welcome to the Light, my child!”
