You are incorrect with history and the Founders.
Our ***government*** is not a democracy, it is a republic.
Our ***elections*** are democratic.
Voters vote US representatives, yes this is true. But reps do not make laws, they propose them. The law is made in stages through a republican process with equal and divided powers, and checks and balances. This is fundamental to the United States and is a reason for its success; it is not a democratic process where a majority votes and gets what it wants.
Reread my post. I said nothing about history or the Founders. I was commenting on the situation as it is.

it is not a democratic process where a majority votes and gets what it wants.
And who won three of the last four elections? The takers, who voted for the reps that would give them what they want (freebies). Hiding behind words like "republic" and talking about what the Founders intended won't mean anything if we don't start winning Americans over to Conservative values.

There has been little effort to force the Justices to keep to the letter and spirit of the law, allowing some vague shadow or permutation to transform the very meaning of the words in the language of the statute.
