This story is a chilling reminder of the evil alliance of Democrats and unions.
When super storm Sandy slammed into the northeast last October it left destruction and dangerous debris in startling amounts. Homes were folded up and rolled down streets. Civil buildings and churches were flattened and dangerous toxic materials covered the landscape. The enormity of the clean-up was such that local governments had to work fast and work cheap to clean up their streets. Since fast and cheap are not words associated with unions the emergency demanded non-union labor as the only available and affordable course of action.
To honest Americans this is simple common sense, but unions want...

I just watched a “People’s Court” yesterday (don’t judge me ;-) Anyway a couple was suing their local city for hauling their stuff away.
Apparently the couple had pulled everything out to inventory the items for their insurance company and see what if anything they could salvage but cleaning it up and drying it out.
The city had hired (union of course), clean up crews to in their words ‘help’ the homeowners depose of items.
They came in with a backhoe, scooped up the stuff threw it in a truck and went to the next house.
The owner of said house ran out side and demanded their stuff back, an interesting response from the trucking company was “sorry, we are not going thought the truck to find your stuff”, then drove away.
The city official said “we were just trying to help”.
The judge said, “it would take two seconds to ask the homeowner if they wanted their stuff taken”.
The defense shrugged, and had to pay 5 grand.
The plaintive will never be able to collect I am sure.
Spoke with a guy that had his own contracting business here in the South.
He got his crew together and went North to offer help in the clean-up-—donating his crew, time and equipment.
He told me that they had been TURNED AWAY because of the unions up there.
I can’t speak for NY but here in NJ probably 99% of the rebuilding work is being performed by non-union labor.
Municipalities doing public clean up might have to use union labor because of existing contracts they have with municipal employees unions but that would be on a town by town basis. My community had all kinds of companies doing clean up of downed trees etc. in the hours, days after the storm and I am willing to bet only a small fraction of them were unionized.
