We The People Are Being Played For Fools
Political Realities ^ | 06/03/13 | LD Jackson

We The PeopleI'm sure I am not alone in this, but I have watched the ongoing scandals coming out of the IRS with more than a little interest. This is a government agency that is charged with administering our tax dollars, but you'll have to forgive me if it feels like we the people are being robbed blind. Remember the scandalous wasteful spending that was uncovered in the Government Services Administration, better known as the GSA? The IRS is just as guilty, maybe more so, of taking the money we the people send to Washington, albeit unwillingly, and spending it on stupid things. Yes, I said stupid. How else can you describe the video that has surfaced of IRS employees being taught to line dance?

The video is being passed off by the IRS as a team-building exercise, which is exactly the same song and dance the GSA tried to sell us when their wasteful spending came to light. They even say they are saving money by doing the video, over what it would cost to do the training in person. I have just one question. When this lame excuse finally runs its course, if it ever does, what excuse will the IRS, the GSA, and other government agencies use as an excuse to waste our money? I'm sorry to say, we the people are being played for fools.

I would ask this question to our government and to anyone who happens to read this post. Who is to blame for the out-of-control spending in Washington? Yes, both political parties share some of the blame. The entrenched bureaucracy probably shares even more, as nothing seems to change, no matter who is in charge of Congress or the White House. All of that is true, but I am afraid we the people are more to blame than anyone. We have sat idly by and watched our government get out of control. We have voted the same people back into power, year after year, with little or not accountability. Our government is supposed to be by the people and for the people, but instead, we have allowed ourselves to be dictated to by unelected bureaucrats who certainly do not have our best interest in mind.

What is the answer to this question, to this problem? I wish I had the answer. We have had opportunities before to change things. We could cause enough grief among our representatives in Washington to force them to change the way things are done. I am a proponent of the Fair Tax, but that is just one example. There are other ways, simpler ways, to administer the taxes our government takes in. I believe one of the most important things we could do is to either unempower the IRS, or abolish it altogether. My vote would be to abolish it, but whatever course of action is taken, it has to start with we the people. We simply can not continue down the same path, in the same direction, and expect the results to be any different from what they have been for decades.

One of my favorite blogs is Texas Fred. He is very vocal, much more than some of his representatives would like to hear. He doesn't mind telling you that he does more than write on his blog. He is engaged in a healthy conversation with more than a few of them. It doesn't matter to him if they like what he says, but it is important that they hear his words. He tells his readers all the time that they need to get off their backsides and start engaging their representatives. I couldn't agree more.

It is time we the people started doing more than following our leaders like we the sheep. That's not how our government was designed. We the people are supposed to be the government. It's time we started acting like it, instead of voting into office the person who promises us the most free stuff. We the people are being played for fools and it's time we stopped playing that part.

The problem is there is no incentive not to waste our money. Politicians use the money to buy their place in office. How else can you explain giving our money to some deadbeat so they can buy a cell phone? I'm not even sure term limits would fix the problem. The only thing that might make a difference is a balanced budget amendment or limiting spending to some fixed percentage of GDP. Finally, throw out the current tax code, replace it with a flat tax, and make it so those who pay no federal income taxes don't get to vote in federal elections.

The civil service shows how wrong good intentions can go. It seemed like a good idea - take politics out of government employment. The problem is that it took control of the government away from the elected officials, and therefore from the voters.

It also ignored human nature, and to what degree power corrupts, and to what lengths corrupt people will go to feather their own nests. The spoils system was corrupt, but, at least, when the voters throw the bums out, they throw all the bums out, which has a mitigating effect on the harm that the bureaucracy can do.

Government never works. gov is unaccountable to the people. we are guilty until proven innocent to a bunch of corrupt , unelected, liberal government bureaucrats at the IRS. Your master is a monster like Lois Lerner. abolish the IRS.

Obama ordered his IRS to rig the election of 2012 for Obama and democrats/socialists in the Senate. Obama also used other gov agencies to rig the election. Why isn't anyone shouting this form the rooftops? Come Levin, coulter , Sarah Palin, Rush, DRudge etc. call Obama out on this and call for Obama’s resignation.

Obama’s IRS prevented many tea party groups from getting started and also audited individual donors to Romney and to the Republican party. The IRS stole the election. We no longer live in a free country

“Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) said Thursday his constituents have suggested they were audited by the Internal Revenue Service because they donated to Mitt Romney’s 2012 presidential campaign. ....”

Hm?....The people who IGNORED the daily pleas from their listeners way back in 2008 to report on Obama’s dubious birth records and eligibility?

Those people?

Whom is ultimately responsible? CONGRESS.

They, yet again, create some new ‘law’ (usurp power) and a department to ‘make it work’ (unelected and unaccountable to We the People)

Then, when the SHTF, everyone goes “I have/had NO idea how this could happen”.

2014 is coming up and where is the House? Where the GOP(e) ‘leadership’? Where’s the RNC? It’s the Tea Party that’s currently bringing back the fight, no one else seems to give a sh!t one way or another.

There was a law in Maine not too long ago that banned welfare recipients from voting. We need this law back, and we need it nationwide.
